Muscle, Bone & Healthy Aging: A menopause nutrition approach to preserving strength, function and skeletal health
The menopause transition is an important window for preserving musculoskeletal health, but clinical conversations can become overly focused on weight, protein targets, or individual nutrients. This session will explore what the evolving evidence tells us about supporting muscle, bone, strength and function through midlife and beyond.
We’ll examine how muscle and bone change during the menopause transition and explore the roles of protein, resistance exercise, calcium, vitamin D, dietary patterns and energy adequacy, including where the evidence is strong and where important questions remain.
The focus will be on clinical application and participants will leave with a practical framework for helping women in the menopause transition preserve strength, bone health and physical function as they age.
